Oh the lazy days of summer...or not so lazy in my opinion.
I spent the afternoon with my mom, brother and grandma picking, husking, washing, cutting and bagging ears of corn in order to freeze for another time. I'll admit I don't usually enjoy doing activities such as this, but it was fun and we all had a good time I'd like to think. Dan and I also attempted to cut off a head of cabbage, but since we didn't know what we were doing exactly we cut off the whole plant. We had a good laugh ove that one. :) It made me realize how I will not be able to take part in a garden for a while once I leave next month for Baltimore, MD, and made me enjoy it that much more! I think those are the things that I've taken for granted in the past. But now that something new is about to happen, I've appreciated all those little things much more. Either way, life goes on, and maybe I will have access to an urban garden next year. If so I hope it will be as fun as the one at my grandma's house!

For those who missed the Perseid meteor shower, my siblings and I were able to catch a glimpse of it last night. I think we went a little too early however, because there wasn't too much action in the sky between midnight and 1 am. We did get a hint of what would probably be a spectacular show around 2 or 3 am, but sleep was calling to us. Dan and I were still a little too excited when we headed back to the house from a deserted country road, but sadly I missed a giant meteor streak across the sky above our car b/c I was looking out the back window. It was still great and I loved every minute of it, even if my neck is soar this morning from looking straight up.
